Enhance In-between Spaces

B-Free’ linear design language allows for scalable settings, fully utilising and enhancing in-between spaces to create powerful applications for workers to connect with colleagues and concentrate individually. Featuring ergonomic design combined with access to power and storage, B-Free supports usage for much longer durations than traditional lounge pieces.

Enhanced Ergonomics. B-Free welcomes varied work postures – reading, reclining or leaning in to a conversation. From focused individual work to a casual meeting, B-Free provides thoughtful, comfortable support.

Get inspired by the power of materiality in our Spring 2017 look book and experience the many ways that materials can evoke emotions and build connection between people and space.

The transparent nature of the screens allows workers to break away from their workstations to concentrate and think but still remain connected to the team. This element of visual privacy works also to help regulate volumes as teammates are aware of each other’s presence

With it’s linear and compact nature, B-Free fits perfectly into a multitude of dedicated and in-between spaces. The open and inviting nature of B-Free attracts and welcomes colleagues for more serendipitous connections. Storage and power options signals that it’s OK to use the space

Power Access. A place to power devices and keep personal belongings at hand in the bag (left) and the bag stand (below).

A Lack of Spaces

Traditionally, workstations take up the vast majority of the floor plan. Many existing solutions for non-task related seating are often bulky or not modular. As a result, workers often had limited access spaces that truly supported their needs

Personal Storage

With more mobility comes the increasing need for personal storage options. We are working out of our bags at increasing rate and as such, personal storage should be accessible and close by. Further, open storage invites users to use a space.

Mobility Requires Access to Power

Mobility is not just a trend – more and more identify themselves primarily as mobile workers. As auch, access to power to recharge mobile devices is an important consideration, but is often lacking in in-between spaces.

We often break away from our workstations to seek out non-traditional spaces for deeper focus. Workers often pulled furniture against the wall, or positioned themselves to shield themselves and their information. It was clear there was a lack of privacy in these in-between spaces.

Designing For Sustainability

We believe the only way to provide the best office furniture solutions is to ensure they’re the best products for the environment. That’s why every step of the way – through design, manufacturing, delivery and product lifecycle – we consider the impact of our work on people and on the environment and uncover opportunities to make things better.

Steelcase helps customers seeking LEED certification to identify products and programs that can contribute to LEED criteria in the categories of Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation (Ergonomics Training, Sustainability Training, Product Innovation).

Learn about Steelcase’s direct and indirect contributions to a project’s pursuit of LEED certification across LEED’s three categories:

  • Building Design + Construction
  • Interior Design + Construction
