Amelia Lounge

$0.00

Surprisingly Amelia’s striking sculptural form was a result of imposing manufacturing limitations during the design process. “I wanted to create a strong sculptural form without the need for costly moulding of foam or plywood. Playing with the intersection of simple geometric forms I was able to develop a chair with more complex and sophisticated lines, which is also very comfortable and requires only simple fabrication processes for manufacture”. Suspended on an elegant stainless steel rod base, the development of hidden fixings contributes to the clean fresh appearance of the chair.

The result is a beautiful, functional, cost effective and versatile chair that can stand on it’s own, but also looks highly effective in groupings due to it’s extruded geometric form and repetition of the parabolic seating cutouts.

What’s in a name?

“Although ‘Amelia’ is a very geometric piece the proportions and beautiful parabolic curves led me to view it as feminine piece. I was interested to see how an old world name such as Amelia would sit with such a contemporary piece. It seems to me that the name brings additional character and softness to the piece. But then it’s my baby I guess..”
